A couple of weekends ago, we went to KeyLime Cove. My Mom, once again, treated all of us to a weekend of fun, fun, fun! Not just for the kids, but for the adults!
On that Sunday morning, it was cold -- as cold as it has been these past few days. So, when I stepped inside of the building and saw the tropical decorations -- it somehow reminded me of The Keys -- I instantly felt like I was out of town, somewhere warm; somewhere tropical. Right now, I wish we were all there again.
There are large vertical windows that look out into the indoor water park area right where guests check-in. While my Mom checked us in, Lola Lily and Joaquin and Jacinta and I gazed upon the people enjoying the water park area. Soon, we were going to be one of of those people in there.
Unfortunately, and inconveniently, our official check-in time wasn't until 4PM if I remember correctly. We arrived there at around 1PM. So, we had to put our suits on and put our belongings in a temporary holding area while we went into the park area. Lame.
What was awesome was the 'baby' pool area where Joaquin and Jacinta were 'safe' to be in. I think both of them enjoyed the slides, although in different ways. Joaquin enjoyed the really 'baby' slide, I would say. The incline was such that you really had to push yourself down the slide. Jacinta liked it, too. But, Jacinta really enjoyed going down the steeper slide. (We got ourselves a daredevil.) Jacinta loved it when she went fast down the slide. When she went on the 'baby' slide, she would use her right leg to maneuver herself to go faster while Joaquin was content to go with the flow -- without any additional push.
Tita Lily, Tita Vangie and my Mom were in the viewing area of the facility with our belongings until we were officially able to go to our rooms. But, once we were checked-in, my Mom and Tita Vangie joined us in the water park area. That was fun to see!
I loved seeing my mom in the main pool area, relaxing on one of the tubes. I wanted to note that, at one point, when Mama wanted to get out, no one was there to help her. She later told us all that she went around and around the lazy river until someone finally helped her get off of the tube. Oh man, was she pissed. I know she was. But, as usual, she mentioned the incident with such coolness to everyone afterward.
The 'Lazy River' was fun. We got a chance to see everyone who came go down that river. Joaquin and Jacinta loved seeing the gigantic pineapple pour out a deluge of water once it was filled-up. Georgie later explained that the gigantic pineapple was fashioned after a (mixed) drink glass -- perhaps a pina colada? -- because it had an umbrella on it. We knew that the 'pineapple' would pour out its content when the rhythm of the signaling bells went faster.
In our attempt to save money, my Mom, Tita Lily and Tita Vangie snuck in food from KFC and Long John Silver's for dinner. Nice! We all played in the water park area until around 10PM.
Our rooms were quite lovely. Georgie said it was probably also because the resort is pretty new. I'll take it. I normally get grossed out by hotel rooms, but I admit that this one was nice.
The next day, we all headed to the arcade. Joaquin, in particular, had been itching to press the buttons or at least touch one of the machines in the arcade room since we arrived. He got his wish. Thank you, Lola Luz, for treating everyone to fun and games at the arcade! I thought I wouldn't be so entertained at this stage in my life, but I enjoyed it thoroughly. I think I may even have spent too much money on one game in particular where you had to keep on depositing a token so that the token will eventually push many other tokens over 'the edge'. That one is addictive. One is always so close.
The games spit-out tickets that can eventually be exchanged for prizes. Joaquin and Jacinta, between the both of them, got two bouncy monster balls and a bracelet. I think my Mom gave me $30 worth of tokens. Yikes!
We all went to Gurnee Mills for a late lunch to the Rainforest Cafe. That day was also Joaquin's birthday day. Thank you again to Lola Lily for treating all of us! Do you guys remember the Volcano cake thing?!
What a nice way to get together -- I won't forget it. I loved spending time with you all.
